Community Food Distribution and Information Sharing--Hassakeh, Syria.

In keeping with our mission to address food insecurity by finding and filling aid gaps, we are assisting the food insecure in Hassakeh, Syria with direct food aid. To do this, we have established a community food distribution program located in an area with a high concentration of Iraqi refugees. We distribute simple, nutritious food packages, free of charge to the most vulnerable in this area. Our food packages are available to all regardless of status or affiliation. A Plate for All purchases all food locally.

A Plate for All's vision within this program is to develop connections within the community in order to better understand its needs and work with the population to address them. We plan to expand services to potentially include a school feeding or nutrition education component. Our contacts within the community will be used to refer refugees to other services available to them, such as healthcare, education, vocational skills classes, and other non-profit and UN services.
