About A Plate for All

OUR MISSION is to reduce the food insecurity of Iraqi refugees living in Syria.

OUR VISION is to reduce the hunger and malnutrition of displaced peoples by promoting food security. We believe that food security is a basic human right and will reduce daily suffering; support use of other basic services; promote regional and international stability; and support healthy bodies and minds.

We do research in refugee communities to identify gaps in food aid provision and food access, and then we work to fill those gaps, keeping the nutritional needs of the most vulnerable at the forefront. This includes: children, pregnant or nursing mothers, widows, destitute families, the unaccompanied elderly, and the sick or disabled.

OUR SERVICES include a community food distribution program in northeastern Syria. A Plate for All delivers basic, nutritious, traditional Iraqi food in an area underserved by other agencies. We conduct distributions delivering a month's worth of food to 350 Iraqi refugee families every three months with a current budget of $10 thousand per distribution. 95% of our budget goes directly toward food purchase and delivery.

THE NEED is great and A Plate for All seeks your support for future distributions and expansion of services. A Plate for All works with the beneficiary population to identify need, adapting our program model to these findings. Northeastern Syria is currently experiencing a four-year long drought, which contributes to continually rising local food prices. Additionally, Iraqi refugees cannot legally work in Syria, and are running out of savings since their flight from Iraq.
